As of January 2024, Christopher has moved all of his song licensing to One License, with songs also being added gradually to The Convergence Music Project. The transition away from CCLI is something Christopher has been working toward for years, and has only recently been able to secure. “The Convergence Music Project and One License more closely align with our theological neighborhood and general approach to the music of the church” he said recently. “I’m glad to be supporting these organizations and their work.”
Christopher Will Perform Twice in Worship, Once as a Busker at UCC General Synod 2019
From June 21st through the 2th, delegates of the United Church of Christ will gather in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for its biennial General Synod. During that time, Christopher will be performing several times, marking the tenth time that Christopher or his music have been a part of the gathering.
At Saturday morning’s worship, Christopher will be leading the song “Coming Together,” which he wrote for the celebration of full communion between the UCC and the United Church of Canada in 2015. Monday evening, at the closing worship service, he will be leading, “I Will Sing of Your Love, Love, Love,” which was commissioned by the Missouri/Mid-South Conference of the UCC to accompany the UCC’s “Three Great Loves” identity campaign. Additionally, at some point during the event, he will be serving as a busker, playing in the hallways somewhere after a plenary session lets out. The time and location of that performance is yet to be announced, so watch for it to be announced on Facebook and Twitter!
Lastly, during Monday’s plenary sessions, the UCC will be debuting a music video about the 3 Great Loves campaign featuring “I Will Sing of Your Love, Love, Love.” Look for that video on social media starting on Tuesday, June 25th!
I’m honored to be singing at the General Synod of the United Church of Christ again this year. This national gathering of the denomination brings together several thousand delegates from around the country to consider where the church is being called next.
I’m even more honored that 2017 marks twenty years that I’ve been writing and leading music at this event. Can you believe it? Between songs I’ve led myself and songs led by others, music I’ve written has been part of plenary sessions and worship at nine of the last eleven synods, starting in 1997.
This year, in Baltimore, I’ll be leading a song of baptismal remembrance called “Already Done Walked” during opening worship on Friday. Early Saturday morning I’ll leading a song that was written to mark the agreement of full communion between the UCC and the United Church of Canada, called “Coming Together.” Also, I’m scheduled to play a set somewhere in the convention center, as one of a number of musicians who will be “busking” (no tips, please) during the event — keep your ears peeled!
With any luck, recordings and sheet music for the two songs I’ll be sharing will be available for you to download soon. As with the last synod in 2015, I’ll be giving away this music for free for a limited time, hoping that congregations can sing the songs at home during synod weekend, AND hoping that those of you coming to synod can learn the songs in advance and SING OUT when the time comes! Stay tuned!

The Pension Board of the United Church of Christ recently sent out Advent worship materials that include Christopher’s song “Drawing Nearer,” written to be sung while the Advent candles are being lit. We’ve gotten a few inquiries asking for resources related to the song.
Bulletin insert file: You can find a scaleable .tif file for your bulletin on our “free bulletin insert” page.

YouTube video with on-screen lyrics: We’re still working on that one. 🙂 We’ll post it here when we’ve got something.
We’re still sort of “open during renovations,” but we’re very excited to welcome you to Christopher’s completely redesigned website! Along with the new look, there are lots of new features, including:
- Free inserts for your church bulletin (some are up already)
- A guide to Christopher’s songs that is keyed to the Revised Common Lectionary (coming soon)
